In 2004, Adam Roberts started The Amateur Gourmet, and became one of “the greatest food bloggers of all time.”

The blog was known for its whimsical, unpretentious approach to food and cooking, and led to Roberts’s first book, The Amateur Gourmet: How to Chop, Shop, and Tablehop Like a Pro (Almost) which came out in August 2007.

In 2012, Roberts published his second book and his first cookbook: Secrets of the Best Chefs, for which he cooked with fifty of the country’s best chefs, including Jose Andres, Lidia Bastianich, Alice Waters, and Samin Nosrat. The book was named “the best cookbook of the year” by The Daily Meal.

Since then, Roberts has written for television (ABC’s The Real O’Neals), newspapers (The Washington Post, The LA Times), magazines (Food & Wine), and film.

His most recent book, a novel called FOOD PERSON, arrives on shelves May 20th, 2025.

You can find Roberts on Instagram, TikTok, and read him twice weekly on Substack.

When not cooking or writing about food, Roberts lives in Brooklyn with his husband, filmmaker Craig Johnson, and their dog Winston.
